the new year is underway. it isn’t stopping for anyone. there is no other way to jump start a year than with a thankful heart. i got so used to listing out the number of terrible things that came with last year all the while there were so many beautiful things to be thankful for.
so each thursday i am going to practice the art of being thankful. every thursday in 2014 i will write down ten things i am thankful for and share them in this space. i am so excited to do this! Here goes nothing!! this weeks may be a little more descriptive and wordy… we’ll see how this develops!
1. i am thankful for God’s grace, without it, i have absolutely no clue where i would be. amazing grace. amazing love.
2. i am thankful for my husband. he has been a solid rock in my life from the moment he walked in.
3. i am thankful for my father. he has been reliable, loyal, caring, loving, and consistent all my life. he’s funny, nerdy, and just such a great example of what a great parent.
4. i am thankful for my sister’s. these girls hold pieces of my heart. i love them with a love that’s so deep.
5. i am thankful for my family. i am blessed doubly because i have an amazing family that i was born into and i married into an equally amazing family. so quirky, sweet, loving…
6. i am thankful for my friends. my oh my do i have the absolute best friends in the world. i can’t brag on them enough. maybe some of my blog entries or a series will show case them. i can’t say enough about each one. such strong, intelligent, accomplished women.
7. i am thankful for a job where i can make a difference in the lives of people with cancer. cancer is so scary. i have never had cancer but we went through the whole process with krystle. and now i am blessed to walk with people through their journey.
8. i am thankful for my home. we had a fire that kept us away from it for 7 months, but talk about beauty for ashes. i wish we had photos of the house and it’s transformation throughout the years. it is safe to say that it has never been better.
9. i am thankful for my church and church family. these people and this place are an extension of our lives. i really do consider these people family.
10. i am thankful for penelope. she is such a sweet little dog. when she gives kisses she puts her little paw on your face… talk about a little romantic!
there it is. my first 10.
so thankful to be alive in such a time as this.
